TAMPA — A pharmacist faces up to 20 years in prison after his conviction Friday on drug trafficking charges relating to his role in two Tampa pill mills.

Brian C. Weiler, 56, of Melbourne was convicted by a jury of conspiring to possess with intent to distribute oxycodone during a period leading up to October 2011 at VIP Pharmacy and New Tampa Pharmacy.

Owners and operators were previously convicted of federal conspiracy charges.

According to state records, Weiler filled hundreds of prescriptions for very large doses of oxycodone totaling more than 100,000 pills.

He voluntarily forfeited his pharmacist license. He had been in the profession for 32 years, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office in Tampa.
