Jury gets case in trial of man with bodies in yard

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (AP) — Jury deliberations are getting underway Tuesday in the trial of a Pennsylvania man charged with strangling a pharmacist and the pharmacist’s girlfriend more than a dozen years ago.

Prosecutors allege Hugo Selenski and a co-conspirator beat Michael Kerkowski to compel him to reveal the location of tens of thousands of dollars he kept in his house, then killed him and his girlfriend, Tammy Fassett.

Authorities found their bodies buried behind Selenski’s house north of Wilkes-Barre along with at least three other sets of human remains.

Kerkowski had pleaded guilty to running a prescription drug ring and was about to be sentenced when he and Fassett were reported missing.

Selenski faces the death penalty if convicted. He has pleaded not guilty.
