Bauder Pharmacy keeps its license for now

Bauder Pharmacy’s license remains in effect until at least March.

The license was set to expire on Dec. 31, but has been extended until at last March when the Board of Pharmacy is scheduled.

Move move comes as the owner of Bauder Pharmacy, Mark Graziano, continues to fight drug allegations against him. Authorities raided Bauder Pharmacy in 2012 after an informant said Graziano illegally sold hydrocodone pills. Graziano denied the claims.

The pharmacy has been working with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy to move ownership of Bauder’s from Mark Graziano to his sister, Kim Robertson, but the board reported problems with the plan last week.

The board said Robertson should have should have known that the quantity of hydrocodone tablets ordered was way more than was being legally dispensed and that an individual informed her of the drugs being sold illegally and she did not inform the Board of Pharmacy about it.

The board said Robertson has not complied with a board order earlier this year to prohibit her brother from having access to the pharmacy by building a secure barrier between the pharmacy and soda fountain, which would keep him out.

The board said she has also not submitted required reports. Robertson has denied the board’s claims. Guy Cook, an attorney for the business, told KCCI an appeal was filed showing the assertions by the board are not correct.

Bauder’s has been located at 3802 Ingersoll Avenue in Des Moines since 1925.
